about shelia

A narrative documentary photographer, educator and curator shelia turner’s approach goes beyond seizing the metaphorical moment and concentrates itself in the value of long-term photography studies. As an arts educator her photographs bridge the worlds of art, academia and activism while providing a platform for the examination of the United States of America life and culture.

 

In 2008 she received MA in Social Documentation, with a specialty in still photography, from the University of California Santa Cruz, Santa Cruz, CA. She received her B.S. in Photojournalism for University of Florida. [1983]

 

Her photographs are included in many public and private collections including the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport and the High Museum of Art, Atlanta, GA.
